This morning as I sat down to write, the word "Compromise" is resonating deep within me. Usually when that happens it is not only something that God is doing in me, but also some of you. I like to look at the definition of the word and for me there is one of three that speaks of what is in my heart today. I am not talking about the kind of compromise that is naturally in marriage ~ ya know where there is give and take and must be in order for everyone to grow in the relationship. The kind of compromise I am talking about is in the choices we make in our lives.
Compromise: (Verb tense) accept standards that are lower than acceptable.
Here are some example of compromise gone wrong:
1. You know for you to have a great productive day at work you need to get a good solid 7 hours of sleep. BUT... you compromise sleep for partying with your friends. You just lowered your standards not only for yourself, but everyone who works with you because you will not be who you need to be.
2. You set out to budget for the month, and you know you have just enough to pay bills, grocery shop, with about 40 bucks left for emergencies. You happen to walk into a store and you see it... those boots you wanted on sale. A compromise gone wrong would be to buy the boots and just "wait and see" what happens. Uhm... no thanks!
How do you know when a compromise has gone wrong?
* You are living in lack.
* You are lonely.
* You are doing things that go against all that you know to be true deep down in.
* You feel hopeless.
How do you get out of a compromise gone wrong?
Change your habits. For some, this may mean it's time to flee and not look back. I personally have been through this. Sadly, I have seen others go through this step then instead of moving forward in their lives, they are stuck in the muck of feeling like they have no choice but to continue in the behavior.
Now... want a quick sweet treat of goodies for the week or for a crowd? These are a "cookie bar" recipe but the texture comes out like with a cake like texture. And honest as I was cutting them up and storing them I had the thought that my kids would actually enjoy these with a smear of peanut butter and a glass of milk for breakfast one morning! LOL. Hey... it's gotta be better than a doughnut!
