I want my words (the words themselves, the tone they come forth in, the motive behind them) to bring LIFE to those who have ears to hear, not death. I want to eat fruit (other's life giving words) that is able to give more life, and it be a continual cycle. Just these last three days, I have had to really remind myself over and over how powerful our words are, and the difference they can make either to uplift one another, or tear someone down. I have observed the dangers of having a superiority flare about ones self, to the point of discontent in a once joyful heart. It hurts. Words hurt. And, you can't get away from them at times, espeicaly when you have an enemy ready to pounce, ready to remind you of the painful words, or even ridicule you in how you responded.
I refuse to allow my words to be damaging to anyone else. Even the words I speak to myself, where no one else can hear. I must have a pure motive with God's people or what's the point?
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
Being the caregiver for many young children (I won't just say teacher, because it goes beyond that when you work with young children), I realize how much words can effect children (let alone adults). They are learning how to communicate themselves. as well as be able to understand that there is more then just them in the conversation. I refuse to allow words to hurt in my classroom, whether they come from a child, or an adult. Yesterday I prayed for courage like David. Today I realize that that the courage I needed was to be able to defend the little ones, in whatever way that God would direct me to do. Their hearts are so important to me. As a teacher, of course their minds are too, but nothing compares to their heart, and making sure they know how much God loves them. How can you be comfortable knowing God loves you if your being confronted by frustation and anger in someone who you should be able to trust to care for your needs until your Mommy comes and picks you up?
- To defend the ones who cannot defend themselves, and even those who can but need some more support.
- To allow a child to be a child! (Even at crazy times like picture day, or party time!)
- To make sure, that these kids are loved from the moment they are in my care, to AFTER they leave my care!
