What kind of tree are you?

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Matthew 7:18
This verse has been brought up several times in my life this past week. Over and over, and it is still resonating in my Spirit. But, in more ways then one. I mean I can feel it in different areas of my life, not just one.

If you have ever read any of my thoughts on how parenting effects an entire generation, bear with me here. I have more to share then just the parenting aspect of this scripture thought.

There is an old aged saying "an apple doesn't fall far from the tree". IF you will observe a child, you will be able to tell how their home life is behind closed doors. Children mimic what they know, what they see. They in a way, become the fruit that their parent has born.

If I want good health, I first must seek God's guidance and leading. Once I have that, I can allow that tree to begin to grow in Him and soon, I may see little blossoms come alive in the promise of fresh fruit. Now, if during this growth I begin to prune and make changes that are of my own leading, I run a risk of bearing bad fruit, or in the least self serving fruit.

If I want to see changes in my career, and I once again seek the Father first, move as He leads I am destined to become fruitful. Why? Because I submitted to the growing process. Tree's do not sprout fruit over night. For some, it takes a few years before we really can harvest anything edible.

Our walk with God is the same way. I love the fact that it takes time. If it came easy, it wouldn't change us and refine us like it does.As you go about your week this week, take time to see what kind of fruit you are bearing, and perhaps what part of your tree you might need to prune.
