Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
The other day, my darling eight year old daughter and I went into the kitchen for a cooking lesson. She was excited, and we both began to anticipate what we were creating. We decided to start with a brownie recipe. Brownies are pretty much fail proof when it comes to learning about baking, and scratch cooking. I helped when I needed to, as my 34 arm is a bit stronger then a 8 year olds. ;)
My goal, and I would like to say responsibility, is to get Kristen in the kitchen more then just here and there. I want to be consistent with her, and teach her the things I have had to learn on my own. She enjoys "cooking", and I want to noursih that in her. I want my daughter to be creative in the kitchen, to have a desire to bring good things to the table when she has her own family. I dont want her to grow up relying on "convience foods", as there is great satisfaction in making things with your own hands. Not to mention the health benefits from "Homemade" rather then peservative filled foods that can live on a shelf for years.
We made Baker's One Bowl brownies, and if you google that ... you wll find our recipe that we like to use. We do leave out the nuts however, because the kids are not really nut eaters. They are NUTTY enough without them! *giggle* I have to say it is an easy, and very yummy recipe!
