On the hunt

That's right, I am going hunting! Now, just hold your horses little dogey! I am hunting for a fluffy biscuit recipe. ~Smile~ So much so that I even put a plea out on facebook!
For now, it's Bisquick Biscuits w/ Buttermilk

I am working very hard, as I told you, to make more things from scratch, and that includes biscuits. It's pretty sad when I can bake just about anything and struggle with such a simple item. I am DETERMINED to fix this! I have been given a couple of recipes to try out and believe me, that is one thing I am going to tackle over spring break!

There are a few more recipes I want to tackle, and I have to say being in my kitchen so much lately has been like therapy for this heart of mine. I am looking forward to a few free days to spend in there just delighting my soul until it's content! Yes I am one of "those". I am a girly girl who likes to cook and clean! I am NOT ashamed! I don't have to get my nails done to feel feminine. Though I do like to use a bit of polish to pretty em up. I like to dig in the dirt to plant flowers and plants. That is coming up too! I like to mow the grass, because it is such a fullfillment looking at a manicured lawn knowing that I took the time myself to do it. It is complete. Not everything us mothers and wives get to do are complete in such a quickly manner.

Sometimes it is okay to go hunting to find what we long for, what we desire. And I can tell you, I am human. I don't do things perfectly. Though I strive for perfection, I do let myself fall from time to time. I can't hold up to the pressure I give myself all the time, though for the majority it is what keeps me going. I am driven. I am motivated. I am often challenged, and that is wonderful!

No, I am not tooting my own horn by any means, though I am sure that is what it looks like. But I know many people in my own life who are unmotivated to do anything. I know people in my own life who would rather just stay the same, right where they are, though they aren't happy. I know people in my own life who are choosing to suffer, because well, they would rather suffer then do anything about it. I CAN'T do that! And to be perfectly honest, I don't understand it. I have to say though these individuals are ones who help push me to become better at who *I* am, and to continue to get stronger in all that I do. ON days I want those M&M's I will often say well ~ what would so and so do, and then I do the opposite. Insanity I guess, but it works. We all have to find what works for us.

Yes I know, yesterday I lectured all about dealing with our own homes, and not judging. When I say I use those lives as motivaiton for me, I don't mean it in a judgemental way ~ though it is what it sounded like. Just as I try to live my life as an example, we are all living examples and what we do in our daily lives can be used as either a positive or negative example. I am sure there are some of my negative quirks that others use as motivation for them to NOT be like me. I am okay with that. ~Smile~

Today is my "friday" at work! I LOVE Thursdays! They go really quickly, and already having alot on my list of things to take care of when I first get there, will surely get my day going on a fast pace. Tomorrow, expect an influx of posts including recipes for the BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE ever, a devotion or two, and a post where I pour my heart out on some things I have been dealing with personally.

Until then, have a BLESSED Thursday!

  2. I've heard that using 7-up instead of water helps in making fluffy biscuits though, I'm not sure I have tried it yet... there is recipes online for McDonald's copycat recipes that suggest the 7-up.

    A couple of tips I have discovered in my trial and error... don't over mix the dough or it makes it tough.. and add a pan of water in the oven when baking. That seems to keep the outside of the biscuit from getting really dry because you are baking with moisture in the oven.

    Good Luck!

  3. OK, so I went to searching and tried the biscuits made with 7-up... they actually turned out very moist on the inside and nice and crunchy on the bottoms... were pretty good actually! Here's the recipe... only I only used half stick butter and did not pour any on top... top was a bit dryer but next time I'll try it with the whole stick as they weren't really too buttery...

    Ingredients

    * 3 cups Pioneer Biscuit Mix
    * 8 oz sour cream
    * 3/4 cup 7-up drink
    * 1 stick butter, divided

    Directions

    1. Mix all of the above ingredients together, except for the butter.
    2. Add extra mix until you can work with the dough.
    3. Melt 1/2 stick of the butter in large cast iron skillet.
    4. Place biscuits in.
    5. Melt the other 1/2 stick and pour all over the tops.
    6. Bake 450 degrees for about 15 minutes.
