It hasn't been this way for me. I would feel blessed simply to make it through the day ~ let alone actually be productive and enjoy it! How much time do we waste simply going through the motions and NOT actually embracing them?
I realized I have friendships from all walks of life. Those who are very well seasoned and have great grandchildren, to those who are just starting their lives as a young bride and housewife. I even have a few who are single. But the one thing I have heard from everyone (not necessarily each friend, but each group) is that they are "just going through the motions".
What does that look like to just go through the motions? Are you doing the same? Here are a few clues, and there are tons more, but these are almost always consistent.
1. At the end of the day you feel empty, and unfulfilled.
2. At the end of the week ~ you cannot account for one magnificent thing that has happened in your life.
3. You feel numb.
4. You find yourself living vicariously through facebook status' of friends or acquaintances wishing you could have their life.
If you have answered yes to any of those situations, it's time to begin evaluating how your spending your days. In fact, the first place to start is on your knees. Ask God to show you where you are living to fill expectations of others especially in areas He may be calling you to something different. Are you doing things out of obligation or desire? Are you passionate about what you are doing, or are you simply going through the motions? You are not only cheating yourself out of living an enjoyable life, but you are cheating the relationship between you and God ~ whom may be calling you to so much more then you ever imagined. It's time to stop getting through the day!
If you are indeed living a full life, where you end your day with a smile (though a tired smile it may be), then good for you! Share with others just HOW you are doing that! Not with your words my friends, but by your actions and how you treat others!
Have a Blessed Sunday,
