The Cycle of the Day

The Cycle of the Day

Do you have a daily routine? I mean really a REAL routine. It has probably taken me years to figure this out, but I can honestly say that Yes. Yes I do have a daily routine, and most of the family can mark their clocks with it. Honestly, I function really well when I know things are being done or need to be done by a certain time. It seems the ... "wiser" I get, (read for older) the more having a routine seems to keep things in order, and order is good.

For example, when I wake up in the morning during the week ~ I make the husband's breakfast and lunch before getting in the shower. Then starts the laundry. Then.. coffee and quiet time. By the time I leave the house in the morning laundry (2 loads) have been washed, dried and put away. The living room is pretty straight, and the dishwasher is going. Often either dinner plans have been made or already going in the crock pot ~ depending on my work schedule for the day. On my two short days one day I deep clean ~ and the other one I may do some spot cleaning, or use that time for whatever floats my boat. Usually that is testing new recipes, reading, or catching up something that has been dvr'd.

The one thing I am learning, is that even though I have a cycle in my day there can be kinks thrown in. This is the growing process that I am involved in right now. Learning HOW to handle those kinks. Perhaps I had a really emotionally draining day and the only thing I want to do is come home and sit on the back porch with a cup of tea for a bit. Or, I walk in the door and am approached by a teen who needs some help with a project for school. Can I say one thing?! Having a plan doesn't mean that everything else goes to the wayside, that it doesn't hold as much precedence in my heart. Having a plan just keeps ME on track, from being lazy and an unorganized keeper of my home. Let's face it, being lazy can easily be done. It's not something you actually have to work at.

I am going to be changing my "cycle of the day" by adding in daily morning workouts and afternoon walks, especially since the weather is getting nicer and time change is coming to offer more daylight hours! THIS excites me! This does add more into my cycle of the day, but can I say that I am longing for that.

I am also going to be changing my "cycle of the week" by adding in designated writing days. That's right! No more dreaming of becoming a writer ~ beyond blogging. I am going to DO IT. Possibly starting with Children's Books! C'mon! I am in the preschool atmosphere more of my week then not. :) More of my waking hours are spent at work, planning for work, talking about work! This is what I do! This is what I love! This IS my passion. Why not use that passion for something that will benefit not only myself ~ but those also in that same kind of realm.

Do you have a daily routine? I would love to hear about it!
