The power of protection, light, and salt!

This has been quite the week! Not in a bad way, by any means just a week that I am learning that the little things in my life that seem so "little" and microscopic mean MORE to me then the big things. My eyes have been opened up to the purpose behind God's protection.

How fitting that even the verse of the day (via www.biblegateway.com) speaks just on this protection. In fact, it gets down to the very core of who and why.

The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:7-8 NIV

Keep you from harm! It doesn't specify what kind of harm, so one must assume that He will protect you from ALL harm! Harm in evil doing. Physical harm. Emotional harm. Harm in relationships. Even harm to our self. And it doesn't stop there! HE doesn't just keep  you from harm ~ it goes on to say that the Lord will watch your coming and going forever! It means He is ever present! Constantly! Consistently! If we would just believe this ~ we wouldn't feel lonely. If we trusted His protection we wouldn't fall into an emotional mess when things don't go our way. Yes our lives are NOT perfect, and things happen. But the more and more I get closer to God I realize just how sovereign He is... and nothing happens to me or my family that He did not already ordain. Nothing happens in relationships that wasn't already planned out. Some relationships in our life are just for growth. Emotional growth. Spiritual growth. Growth. In fact, every relationship we have ~ whether they are lifetime relationships, long distance relationships, daily face to face ones, or even those short lived friendships, is for growth. Sometimes, to protect us these are often cut shorter then we'd like. Sometimes, to protect us, they last longer then we'd imagine. Relationships go through phases even to get us to a place of either acceptance or closure. And if we are careful enough to follow His lead ~ we know clearly what His intentions are. When we accept that, we can move forward no matter what the outcome may be.

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

The above verse is something that God placed deep within me. Partly because of a relationship I wasn't sure should have closure or healing. In reality no matter what it is that you are searching this outcome on.. it is very wise. "But if salt looses it's saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." Do you have an area in your life in which you have lost saltiness? It honestly is pretty scary to think that you could LOSE saltiness is it not?

I love that "we" are described as being a town built on a hill that cannot be hidden. Even when we try to hide, we are so visible to the world ~ and our motives and actions are often exposed so easily. Again, divinely planned so that we cannot deceive ourselves or God. Sure we think we might be hiding, but in reality even if we "try" to deceive ourselves, we are not. We can't be hidden! When we feel we need to, then somethng's wrong. Perhaps we are trying to receive man's approval as well as God's on the same level ~ and to be honest, that just can't happen.

This is a pretty heavy post today. I get it. But blogging is how I get through things. The power of the written word is more moving, and freeing then just about any other "therapy" methods I know. Usually I am free to move forward after blogging about such intense things and today is no different. I can move forward without looking back. Lots' wife looked back, and became a pillar of salt ~ unmovable, dead, and lost. No thanks! I have a future before me! And .. so do you.
Have a blessed weekend!
