Twas the week of Thanksgiving ....

It is so hard to believe that not only is Thanksgiving this week, Christmas is a month away and we are about to say good bye to 2013!! How did this happen?! So, since I have this week off, and I want to spend some time blogging I am going to do what I will call "A week of Thanksgiving".

Today for me has been a bit of planning, shopping, and prepping. Well, at least the first two are correct, and complete. *almost* I need to go BACK to the store for a couple of things ~ but that is not much.

What are our plans this year?
Dinner with my parents at my house for lunch, and supper at my in laws. It has been many years since we have celebrated with both sides of the family on Thanksgiving and I have to tell you that I am very excited about it! When the kids were little it was tough. Tough on them, tough of me. Thankful as they age it becomes a bit more easier.

Menu (at my house)
Roasted Turkey
Cornbread Dressing (Momma's bringing)
Cranberry Sauce (for those who like it)
Green Bean Casserole *NEW ~ not the recipe on the can
Mashed Potatoes
Turkey Gravy
Parker House Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Chocolate Cake (for the non pie eaters)

To take to In laws
Broccoli Rice Casserole
Pumpkin Pie
Cherry Cheesecake Bars *NEW

I will be doing some food prep, pie making, cake making, Cheesecake bar making on Wednesday. The majority of my cooking however will indeed be on Thanksgiving morning. Our "fair" tends to be very casual both at home, and at in laws. Always has, always will. More importantly we get to be with one another!

This week I will share the majority of the recipes I will be using including the turkey and dressing! Yes ... dressing people NOT stuffing! I have marked the new to me recipes and am excited to share those this week as well.

What's on YOUR Thanksgiving menu?
