I used to be one who sat .... and hung on every word I would/could read on Facebook every single morning until I had to rush to get out of the house and head into work. Then.... I would spend countless hours on the app on my phone keeping up with everyone. I was entrapped, and wanted to know what everyone was doing. Why? I don't know!
Maybe I do know. It is always easier to get lost in someone else's life and not deal with our own. Yet, when we deal with our own ~ it becomes a beautiful thing! IT's easy to fall into the pattern of this world and not go against the flow of traffic. But it's not best.
God clearly states in His word that we are NOT to fall into the pattern of this world!
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-3 NIV
Even something as letting go of looking into your lives on Facebook is pleasing to God. Do you know how i know this? I am at much more peace in the morning. I am giving more of me to my family, in turn gives more of God to my family. I serve HIM in all I do ~ including serving breakfast to some hungry kids! God has been pruning some friendships/relationships out of my life and while it was painful, I am now seeing the fruit of it. I am not hanging on their very word, but instead hanging on the word of like minded/ like hear-ted sweet friends who point me to look UP and away from this world. I am indeed blessed! I am more at peace with being the wife, and mother I have always longed to be and in reality that has NOTHING to do with being like this world. Sadly the world we live in .... is more and more against the intention of family. I would not have the sweet relationship with my husband that I have now if I would have kept going the way I was just a few short years ago. Our children would not be the precious ones they are, had we given up and parented as the parents in our society now do. Yes, we are different, and that is exactly what God asks of those who long to be in Heaven with Him.
