Motivation for your Monday: Take Inventory on Those Thoughts

This morning I am more convinced that our thought life is more important than we want to give credit for. What we think is important. In fact, it is more important than anything, and I mean anything. Do you know why? It is what we think ... that we become, that displays our beliefs whether they are real or not, and becomes our reality.

"Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are.. it solely relies on what you think." ~ Buddha

If your thoughts are negative, the world around you will seem negative. It will be hard to find God (higher power, whatever you may believe in) in any situation, AND you will lose faith, trust, and hope.

If your thoughts are positive, the world around you will seem positive. It will be EASY to find God (higher power, whatever you may believe in) in any situation, AND you will gain faith, trust, and hope!

It really is a simple concept almost too simple that many people may think it is bogus. But if you think about it. YOU stay in your mind, and in your thoughts more of the day than not. While your working perhaps deep within your trying to figure out budgets, a to do list for when you get home, working through a relationship problem, among a million other thoughts.

Here is an exercise for you to do to figure out whether you are a negative or positive thinker. Don't just assume. You may be surprised!

1. Get a piece of paper and write down every single thought you have. You don't have to share this with anyone, so don't feel like you can't write it down. No one is going to see it unless of course YOU leave it out or share it.

2. At the end of the day get another sheet a piece of paper. On the front write "Positive" and on the back write "Negative".

3. Write down the thoughts you had on the appropriate side of the paper.

4. Which had more?

*Judgements on other people should go on the negative side UNLESS it was a kind thought. (Sadly, the majority of thoughts we have on other people are not so kind.) Even if you think it is justified, it still goes on the negative side. Same goes for self judgement.

Do this exercise as often as you need to in order to begin to change your thoughts into what you would like them to be. Nobody is perfect, and we can all use more discipline in this area of our lives.

Want to learn a little more about how important your beliefs are to your thoughts?! Check out this video from Christy Wittman. CLICK HERE to be redirected. ( It is 14min and 26sec. Invest that time in yourself and listen/watch and learn! )

PLEASE stop allowing what other's have once said to you be what you believe about yourself, and thoughts that swirl around in your head. Learning about who YOU are, loving YOU, and becoming all that YOU want to become will not send you to HELL, but it will make this world a much better place!

  1. I have been told I am the most upbeat and positive person known. I have been asked at work how I can always be so positive and always in a good mood. Oh, trust me, work frustrates me, people frustrate me, but I do tend to just blow it off a lot. I might vent at first, but I move on. I don't let the negative consume my every though. Again, another great post!
